But I tell you who will hear me: Love your enemies, do good to
those who hate you. Bless those who curse you, pray for those
who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on the cheek, turn to
him the other also. Do unto others as you would have them do unto
you. If you love those who love you, what testimony do you have?
If you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that
to you? But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them
without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will
be great and you will be sons of the Most High, because He is
kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be Merciful, just as your
Father is merciful. Luke 6:27-29, 31-33 & 35-36
Our Battle Is In The Heavens
We must be diligent to remember that G-d is not against people,
but He is opposed to the power of sin that is working in them and
destroying others through their spiritual bondage. Our battle is
not with human beings, but with spiritual forces that influence
and possibly control them.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,
authorities, powers and forces of spiritual darkness and evil
in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12
Spiritual Warfare Prayer
How are we to effectively do battle with these great spiritual
powers that have diabolical designs to thwart our efforts to spread
the Good News of G-d's love and forgiveness that is to be found
in Y'shua the Messiah? The following verses describe the spiritual
armor that G-d has provided for everyone born of His Spirit through
faith in His Son.
Therefore be strong in the L-RD and the power of His might and
put on the full armor of G-d, so when the evil day comes you may
be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything,
to still stand.
Stand firm then, with the Belt of Truth buckled around your waist,
with the Breastplate of Righteousness in place, and with your
feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace.
In addition to all this, take up the Shield of Faith, with which
you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take
the Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit, which is
the Word of G-d.
Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers
and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying
for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my
mouth, words may be given to me so that I will fearlessly make
known the mystery of the Gospel, for which I am in chains. Pray
that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Ephesians 6:10
& 13-20
These verses from Ephesians 6 challenge believers in Messiah to
be on the offensive for the Kingdom of G-d. Rabbi Saul (the Apostle
Paul) encourages us to use the weapons of spiritual warfare which
are mighty through G-d for the demolishing of strongholds, taking
every thought captive unto obedience to the Messiah (1 Cor. 10:3-5).
Five times in three verses we are exhorted to pray about anything
that effects G-d's people and the proclamation of the Good News
of His Kingdom.
I believe that Rabbi Saul is being led by HaRuach Adonai (the Spirit
of the L-RD), to use the armor of the Roman soldier as an illustration.
Each piece representing how G-d's Word empowers and enables us to
not only defend ourselves in spiritual battle, but also to anoint
us to take the offensive and liberate those who languish in bondage
by the forces of darkness.
For the Word of G-d is alive and powerful, sharper than a two-edged
sword, penetrating even to the dividing of the soul & spirit,
judging the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
The Spirit of the Sovereign L-RD is upon me, because the L-RD has
anointed me to preach Good News to the poor. He has sent me to bind
up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release
to those imprisoned in darkness.
