I then began to challenge her with probing questions and unsettling
comments about her faith each day as we rode the bus to work. At
first, she tried to defend her beliefs to me and I thought that
she would soon accept the superiority of my beliefs over hers. But
much to my dismay, after a few days of my continued barrage on her
faith, she became angry and asked me to leave her alone. She said
that if all my faith did for me was inspire me to destroy hers,
she wasn't interested in anything I had to say. All I had done in
my effort to share what I believed with her was to diminish and
degrade what had been the most precious thing in her life. The bus
pulled up just as she finished rebuking me and I went to one of
the back seats to get alone with G-d and ask for His wisdom.
The response to my question was as sensitive as it was swift.
I heard the L-RD gently exhort me to learn that people are not hungry
for religious intimidation, but for genuine, life-changing love.
Wasn't that what had drawn me to accept Jesus as my Savior?
Remember, Y'shua commanded us to love one another as He had loved
us.
A new commandment I give to you: Love one another. As I have
loved you, so you must love one another. By this shall all men
know that you are My disciples, if you love one another. John
13:34-35
My prayer is that all of them may be one, Father, just as You
and I are one, that they also may be one in us, so that the world
may know and believe that You have sent Me. John 17:21-23
You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt shall lose its
flavor, it is good for nothing. You are the light of the world.
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good
works and give glory to your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16
One of the great privileges I have been blessed with was meeting
and being ministered to by Rev. Richard Wumbrand, a Jewish Lutheran
minister from Romania who suffered in solitary confinement within
Communist prisons for 14 years. He was a radical disciple of Messiah
and loved many of his tormenting captors into the Kingdom of G-d.
He was a shining example of how supernatural agape' love can soften
the hardest of hearts and tenderize the meanest of men. It is G-d's
secret weapon in the spiritual battle for the hearts and minds of
all humanity.
Speaking of secret weapons, I am reminded of a story I recently
heard. Dr. Howard Morgan had just returned from Israel, where he
was told that he might have an opportunity to have five minutes
with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. As he prayed about what to say
if this opportunity came to pass (which unfortunately it did not),
these are the words that arose from his spirit:
"Mr. Prime Minister, I have a secret weapon for your war against
terrorists; Christian missionaries! G-d
wants Jews to send Christians
into the Islamic world, so He can turn
Muslims into Christians
who love Jews."
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of G-d!
