The Tenach Trail to Faith in Messiah

by Messianic Rabbi Ed Rothman

3) Repentance - Turning to G-d from our own ways!

Ezekiel
Ezekiel 18:30-32 "Therefore I will judge you, 0 house of Israel, everyone according to his ways, saith the L-RD G-d. Return ye and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so shall they not be a stumbling block of iniquity unto you. Cast away from all your transgressions, wherein you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit; for why will ye die, a house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, saith the L-RD G-d; wherein turn yourselves and live."
Isaiah
Isaiah 55:6-7 "Seek ye the L-RD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the L-RD and he will have compassion upon him and to our G-d, for he will abundantly pardon."
Joel
Joel 2:12-13 "Therefore also now, says the L-RD, turn ye even to me with all your heart and with fasting and with weeping and with mourning: and rend your heart and not your garments and turn unto the L-RD your G-d: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness."
Malachi
Malachi 3:18 "Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves G-d and him that serves him not."
Yeshua
New Covenant Parallel - Luke 13:3 "I tell you, Nay: except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
Paul
New Covenant Parallel - Romans 2:4 "Or despises thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of G-d leaded thee to repentance."
Peter
New Covenant Parallel - II Peter 3:9 "The L-rd is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Yeshua
New Covenant Parallel - Acts 26:18 "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Hasatan (the Adversary) unto G-d, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them, which are sanctified by faith that is in me. "
